Corporate Controller

The Company

Our company is an industry leader that provides quality cabinets, countertops, and millwork throughout the Western and Southwestern United States. 

We are undergoing rapid growth and are seeking a Corporate Controller to lead the accounting function. This is a remote position with 1 week per month to visit company offices (Nex Mexico). The Controller role is charged with creating & implementing new processes, systems and controls to scale the finance function through this phase of growth. The Controller will also lead the financial & accounting integration efforts of new acquisitions as they arise, and continuously integrate past acquisitions into our financial results

This is a very hands-on and impactful role, where your technical expertise and business acumen will complement and enhance a seasoned team of professionals. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will have broad scope and exposure across the company including exposure to the Extended Leadership team at the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strategic partnership with FP&A team; Assist with budgeting and forecasting and ongoing variance analysis.
  • Interact cross-functionally to understand business issues which then have implications on the underlying accounting treatment
  • Manage monthly/quarterly financial close process with on-time/accurate deliverables.
  • Implement financial systems and controls to mitigate misstatements in financial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial and operational systems and cost-effectiveness
  • Experience with WIP, COGS, and inventory management
  • Perform financial due diligence over potential M&A targets.
  • Lead M&A integrations efforts. Participate in cross-functional leadership teams, identify risk areas and transition financial results into Third Bench books & records.
  • Ability to transition accounting software systems of acquired companies
  • Lead and manage an internal accounting team across several different entities
  • Ability to work within a holding company structure with various entities rolling up and being consolidated with intercompany reconciliations
  • Ownership of financial reporting including creating a narrative regarding Company performance and variances to budget/forecast. Distribute results to senior management.
  • Ownership of the accounting compliance function including owning audit relationships & reporting requirements to lenders. 
  • A foundational understanding of corporate income tax and management of third-party tax advisors. Ensure regulatory compliance and 100% timely payment of various taxes and reporting.
  • Ability to lead an independent external audit of the company

  • Strong track record of implementing and executing tactics to achieve key strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated leadership characteristics
  • Strong/Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field plus active CPA
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience 
  • Minimum 3 years of public accounting experience (Big 4 desired)
